As a Baltimore native I find myself dissapointed in the actions of the masses in my community, yet still torn because I couldn't figure out a way to advocate change myself. In the past, musicians like Marvin Gay and Stevie Wonder used music as inspiration and a voice to spark a positive change in their community. Poets like Langston Hughes shed light on injustices through verse and several other leaders and painters of the Harlem Renaissance brought social injustices to the forefront to ignite a change in their community.
I came across this video on my Facebook timeline and fell in love with the boldness of this statement. I must admit I find myself a bit jealous of how this group was able to use a guerilla marketing-styled technique as their voice.
Never21 is a collective of young activist who have use their talents to shed light on the countless number of African Americans who will never see the age of 21 due to the injustices in law enforcement.
